Steps of Hope Sierra Leone (SOH-SL) is dedicated to removing the practical barriers that prevent vulnerable children in Makeni, Bombali District, from attending, participating in, and completing school.
We mobilize communities and partners to help vulnerable schoolchildren arrive safely, eat nutritious meals, obtain learning essentials, and remain engaged in education.
Our Mission and History
Many children in Sierra Leone face immense hardships to receive an education, including long walks, lack of shoes, hunger, and no learning materials. These challenges often lead to fatigue, injury, absenteeism, poor concentration, and ultimately, dropping out of school.
SOH-SL was founded to address these critical issues by collaborating with children, parents, schools, and various community partners to create a supportive environment where every child can thrive academically. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow.
